When Directors Bet on Their Own Stock, You Pay Attention
A cybersecurity mid-cap where insiders bought early, and the latest numbers finally agree with them. Here's the setup.
When directors put real money into their own company's stock on the open market, that's not routine housekeeping. It's conviction, and it usually shows up months before the numbers do.
Today's setup points to a mid-cap in one of the hottest corners of tech, where two directors bought in February and the July earnings print just proved them right. Here's what you do with it now.

Louis Navellier says his $9 million Stock Grader system is flashing its highest rating on one AI stock for 2026.
This company recently reported record annual revenue of $113.5 billion, earned an A-rating in his system, and is tied to a major AI expansion linked to Elon Musk’s “Project Apex.”
Navellier says this is the same system that helped him spot Nvidia long before its historic run.
Now, he is revealing the name, ticker, and full analysis of his #1 AI stock pick for 2026, completely free.

Tenable Holdings

August 10 – Pre‑market
Ticker: TENB | Sector: Technology (Cybersecurity) | Market Cap: $36.38 | Market Cap: ~$4.04B

30‑Second Take
Why now? Earlier this year two Tenable directors stepped in with their own money. Arthur W. Coviello Jr. bought 12,000 shares at $21.50 on February 9, and Raymond Vicks Jr. added 4,500 at $22.17 on February 12.
The stock now trades near $36, so both are sitting on roughly 65% gains.
That tells you what insiders thought the business was worth when nobody else wanted it, and the Q2 print on July 29 backed them up: net dollar expansion ticked up to 106%, the first real sign the land-and-expand engine is working again.
Cybersecurity spending isn't slowing down. AI adoption is forcing enterprises to rethink their attack surfaces, and Tenable's Exposure Management platform sits right in the middle of that conversation.
So here is what you're looking at: a ~$4.0 billion mid-cap in an industry seeing outsized capital flows, a Q2 report already in hand with expansion rates turning up, and directors who bought at $21 and change and never sold.

Trade Setup
Time frame: Swing to medium-term (4 to 8 weeks)
Edge type: Insider conviction plus sector tailwind
Insider cluster buys are one of the strongest forward signals you can find, and these buyers are now deep in the money rather than underwater.
Layer that on top of accelerating cybersecurity budgets and a product cycle that's just hitting its stride, and you have a setup that skews to the upside. Note that you are not buying it cheap on price anymore, so size accordingly.

Take a look at this…
It's a radical "light-speed" device that's turning AI as we know it into "Accelerated AI", making it 100 times faster and 100 times more energy efficient.
In fact, Jensen Huang, Nvidia's founder and CEO, says this device is shattering the limitations of AI and without it, AI can't scale.
If you want to discover what this technology is, why Nvidia is betting billions on it…
And the one stock we believe could be the biggest winner when "Accelerated AI" goes mainstream…

Chart

1-Month Trading Summary: TENB closed at $36.38 on Friday, down about 12% over the past month after tagging a 52-week high of $43.67 in mid-July. Zoom out and the picture flips: the stock is up more than 130% from its April low of $15.73.
So you are buying a pullback inside a strong uptrend, not a broken chart. The setup now is less about anticipating a print and more about whether the Q2 numbers hold up as the market digests them.

Bull Case
Core thesis: The insider signal is your anchor here. These weren't symbolic purchases, and they weren't made at today's price.
Both directors bought around $21 in February, when the market had written the business off, and the Q2 print in July gave them the first hard evidence they were right. What you're underwriting now is whether that expansion trend continues for another few quarters.
Catalysts: Cybersecurity spending isn't just growing, it's accelerating as AI shifts the threat model. Every enterprise migrating workloads to AI-driven systems needs a way to see, prioritize, and shut down exposures across an expanding attack surface.
That's the exact problem Tenable's platform solves.
Product cycle momentum: Tenable's Exposure Management platform has shifted the company from a legacy vulnerability scanner into a broader risk-quantification play. The old business was competitive but crowded.
The new positioning puts them in front of enterprise CISOs who need a unified view. If subscription revenue on that platform keeps compounding at double digits, you've got room for the multiple to expand.
Valuation upside: At around $4.0 billion in market cap and roughly 18x forward earnings, Tenable trades at a meaningful discount to CrowdStrike, Zscaler, and Palo Alto Networks.
GAAP earnings are barely positive, so the trailing multiple is meaningless here — cash flow and forward estimates are what you should be underwriting.
You're paying for the smaller name in the same growth pocket, and if forward guidance holds, that gap starts to close.

Bear Case
Cybersecurity is a brutal competitive space. CrowdStrike, Wiz (now inside Google), Palo Alto Networks, and Rapid7 are all chasing the same enterprise wallet. If Tenable's ARR growth decelerates or net retention slips, your story changes fast.
The stock has also already moved, hard. It is up roughly 130% off the April low and sits within 20% of its 52-week high, which means the easy money on the February insider signal is behind you. What's left is the fundamental setup, and that setup has to deliver.
Watch for guidance risk as the market continues to digest the Q2 report. If the read-through on enterprise IT budgets gets cautious or deal cycles show any pause, the stock could give back recent gains quickly.
Keep a stop below recent support if you're taking the trade, and don't chase without a clean breakout on volume.

Quick Checklist
✅ Thesis still valid after today's close
✅ Volume confirms move above key levels
✅ Q2 earnings released July 29 (net dollar expansion 106%). Analyst revision cycle now in play
