The November FDA Date Hiding Inside This $80B Biotech

An FDA decision next month, earnings this week, and the Street is still staring at the wrong drug.

One large-cap biotech has an FDA decision on a new drug due next month and earnings on Friday. The market is still pricing it like a single aging eye drug is the whole story.

A CRM so smart, it updates itself.

HubSpot's CRM is so smart, it now updates itself. Calls get logged and summarized the moment they end. New leads get researched and a first outreach drafted, automatically. Deals move forward on their own, with next steps flagged before you have to ask.

Even the one repetitive task you've been meaning to fix can now run itself, no code required. Customers using it are already seeing the difference.

This isn't the CRM you have to work hard to figure out. It's the one already working before you log in.

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

October 28 – Pre‑market
Ticker: REGN | Sector: Healthcare (Biotechnology) | Market Cap: $84.02B

30‑Second Take

Why now? Most of the Street is still chewing over the same Eylea-versus-biosimilars story. More interesting for you is cemdisiran, Regeneron's RNA-interference therapy with an FDA target action date in November.

If the decision comes in clean, you're looking at a brand-new launch inside a rare-disease franchise with real pricing power.

Management has already set the table. GAAP gross margin guidance was lifted to 78% to 79% earlier this year, which is the kind of move you only make when you're expecting premium-priced launches to flow through the P&L.

The stock sits a few percent below its 52-week high with a five-year beta around 0.15. That's a low-vol, large-cap biotech heading into a binary catalyst, and the market is still pricing it like Eylea erosion is the whole story.

It isn't.

Chart

1-Month Synopsis: REGN is up about 7% over the past month, climbing from the mid-$700s back above $800 and finishing a few percent shy of its 52-week high.

That's a steady grind, not a blow-off, and it doesn't look like a clean FDA outcome is fully in the price yet.

With the broader biotech group getting whipped around by rate speculation and the Fed meeting this week, Regeneron's low beta has done exactly what you'd expect. It's absorbed the macro noise and kept grinding higher.

Going into Friday's earnings call and the November FDA decision, this is a stock that hasn't run away from you yet.

Bull Case

Why It Works

The cemdisiran launch is the piece you aren't being charged for.

Cemdisiran is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapy that came out of Regeneron's collaboration with Alnylam, dosed under the skin once a quarter. If approved, it would be the first siRNA for generalized myasthenia gravis, a specialty market where pricing has held up. Launches like these don't need blockbuster volume to move the needle for you. They need clean execution.

Regeneron already has that muscle in place through its commercial infrastructure for Dupixent and the oncology franchise.

The Catalysts

There are two of them, stacked. Earnings land Friday morning, October 30, giving management the microphone to pre-sell the cemdisiran launch and update the margin trajectory. Then the FDA target action date hits in November.

A clean beat with constructive forward guidance into a pending FDA decision is the kind of two-step setup that forces portfolio managers to reposition. If you own it before Friday, you're ahead of that repositioning.

What The Numbers Say

In July, management raised full-year GAAP gross margin guidance on net product sales to 78% to 79%, up from 77% to 78%.

That's a signal, not a rounding error.

Read that as a business running with room to spare heading into a new launch, not one scrambling to protect its base.

Bear Case

What Could Break It

FDA decisions are binary. A delay, a complete response letter, or a narrower-than-expected label, and the November catalyst flips from tailwind to overhang. You can't hedge a binary with low beta.

Eylea biosimilar erosion is also real and ongoing. Every quarter of accelerating biosimilar penetration pulls near-term earnings power out of the base. If Friday's print shows faster-than-expected share loss, don't expect the market to reward you for cemdisiran optionality until Q1 numbers prove it out.

The Valuation Risk

At roughly 20 times trailing earnings and about 12 times forward estimates, the stock isn't expensive. But those forward numbers assume Eylea holds up better than feared and new launches ramp on schedule. If either slips, a cheap multiple can stay cheap.

Drug-pricing policy sits on top of all of this. The administration has been vocal about reference pricing and expanding Medicare negotiation, and Regeneron's premium franchises are exactly what you'll see targeted when the headlines turn hostile.

How To Size It

Remember, this is a company worth roughly $80 billion. Even if everything breaks right, you're not getting a 50% move.

A realistic bull case is 15% to 25% over the next few months. If you need torque, this isn't your stock. If you want a defensible, catalyst-backed setup with a low beta attached, it is.

Size it as a core position, not a lotto ticket.

Quick Checklist

✅ Thesis still valid after Friday's Q3 earnings print
✅ Cemdisiran FDA target action date confirmed for November
✅ Volume confirms accumulation above the $800 level
✅ No late-cycle FDA communication indicating label concerns
