The AI Power Play That's Building in the Data Center Stack
The unsung energy backbone powering the next wave of AI, before Wall Street catches on
Every AI query burns electricity, and the grid can't keep up. While everyone chases the mega-caps, the real bottleneck and the real opportunity are hiding in the power stack.

The last time this firm did this, it skyrocketed overnight.
Now – backed by a $51 billion backlog, a SpaceX partnership, and President Trump’s ringing endorsement – the gains could be even bigger.

Bloom Energy Corporation

August 28 – Pre‑market
Ticker: BE | Sector: Industrials | Market Cap: $64.16B

30‑Second Take
Bloom Energy could well be your picks-and-shovels way into the AI infrastructure boom without chasing the mega-caps. The problem it solves is simple. Data centers need power. Lots of it. And the grid can't keep up.
AI hyperscalers are trying to bring multi-hundred-megawatt sites online, but utility interconnection queues in the hottest markets are now stretching past 2028. That's where Bloom comes in, with solid oxide fuel cells that drop onsite and start producing power in months instead of years.
Political money, institutional money and hyperscaler capex budgets are all pointing at the same bottleneck. The stock has already re-rated hard off its 52-week low, but it still trades well below its 52-week high, which gives you a pullback entry ahead of what could be a busy fall of deal announcements.

There is speculation that Trump could sign an order updating how America's gold reserves are valued, a figure that has not changed since 1973.
Past resets of this kind have historically led to strong moves in related assets.

Chart

1-Month Trading Summary: BE has pulled back from its summer highs and has spent recent weeks consolidating after a huge run this year.
Shares are hanging above technical support while the broader AI infrastructure basket digests the latest round of hyperscaler capex commentary.
If you want a re-entry into the data center power theme without chasing the mega-caps, this pullback is exactly the kind of setup worth watching.

Bull Case
Core thesis: Bloom Energy makes solid oxide fuel cells that produce on-site power for data centers, industrial customers, and utilities.
The AI power crunch is not slowing down. The grid you rely on was built for last century's demand curve, and hyperscalers now need multi-hundred-megawatt sites operational yesterday.
Utility interconnection queues are stretching past 2028 in the hottest markets. That's Bloom's entire pitch.
Catalysts: Bloom's stack can drop onsite and start producing power in months, not years. Oracle's Nevada AI campus is already running on Bloom units, and the company signed a major supply agreement with AEP earlier this year. That on-site speed is the edge you are buying.
Every hyperscaler earnings call keeps confirming the same thing. Capex is going up, and power is the bottleneck. Treat power capacity as the constraint you track next quarter.
Valuation upside: management raised full-year 2026 guidance alongside record second quarter results, and now guides to $3.9 billion to $4.2 billion of revenue, roughly 34% non-GAAP gross margin, $800 million to $900 million of non-GAAP operating income, and non-GAAP EPS of $2.55 to $2.85.
Trailing twelve-month revenue of $3.11 billion is up 91% year over year, and net income of $245 million marks the turn from a decade of losses to real profitability. You are not buying a cheap stock here. You are buying an earnings ramp, so measure every quarter against that guidance bar before you add.

Bear Case
BE has already run hard from its 52-week low. Anyone buying up here is not early.
High beta cuts both ways. When the AI trade wobbles, this one gets cut in half in a hurry.
Fuel cells still need feedstock, and Bloom's stack runs on natural gas or hydrogen. That's a headache for you if energy prices spike, or if any state pushes back on new gas hookups tied to data center loads. The clean energy branding gets messy when you look under the hood.
Competition is heating up too. Small modular reactors, gas turbines and even geothermal are all pitching hyperscalers for the same power gap. Bloom has a first-mover advantage on speed-to-deploy, but if you're leaning on that moat, don't assume it stays unbreached.
And the balance sheet has historically been the elephant in the room. Bloom burned cash for years to scale manufacturing, and while operating leverage is improving fast, any hint of a slower ramp on hyperscaler deployments will hit your position hard. A trailing multiple that high leaves no room for a miss.
Position sizing is not optional here. If you can't stomach a 30% drawdown in any given month, this isn't your name.

Quick Checklist
✅ Thesis still valid after the latest close
✅ Volume confirms the move above key levels
✅ Catalyst date double-checked (hyperscaler deal watch + Q3 earnings, late October)
